Equipment

  • Blackstone Griddle
  • Flat Top Grill/ Griddle

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 pounds ground beef
  • 1 packet taco seasoning blend
  • 4 to 5 cloves garlic minced
  • 3/4 cup salsa
  • 2 ounces canned green chiles (optional)
  • kosher salt, pepper
  • cooking oil of choice
  • 6 to 8 slices Pepper Jack or Colby Jack cheese
  • 1 12 count package King's Hawaiian Sweet Rolls
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • Optional: shredded lettuce, pickled jalapenos, hot sauce

Instructions

  • Put the ground beef in a bowl and add the taco seasoning packet, garlic, 1/4 cup of the salsa, green chiles (if using), kosher salt, and pepper. Mix together with your hands until combined.
  • Form the beef into one large square/ rectangle shaped patty on a tray, aim for the same shape, but slightly bigger than the slider buns because the burger will get smaller as it cooks.
  • Preheat the griddle to medium. Once hot add some cooking oil and the beef patty. Cook about 4 minutes per side. Place the cheese on the burger during the last 2 minutes of cooking, overlapping the slices.
Note: I had the best luck with a large hibachi spatula when flipping.
  • Cut the slider buns or rolls in half, separating the top and bottom layers. Place them cut side down on the griddle for a minute to toast them slightly.
  • Mix together the remaining salsa with the sour cream. Put the bottom side of the buns on a tray and put the burger over top. Add the sour cream salsa mixture, toppings of choice such as lettuce, jalapenos, and hot sauce, and place the top buns to serve.
