Equipment

  • Blackstone Griddle
  • Flat Top Grill/ Griddle
  • Slotdog

Ingredients

  • 6 hot dogs (I used Nathan's Bun Length)
  • cooking oil of choice
  • pizza seasoning blend (or a mix of garlic powder and Italian seasoning)
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella or pizza cheese
  • 36 slices pepperoni
  • 6 hot dog buns (I used Brioche buns)
  • Toppings: pizza sauce, parmesan cheese, crushed red pepper flakes

Instructions

  • Use your Slotdog (link to purchase in post above) or use a knife to cut a few diagonal slits in each hot dog.
  • Preheat griddle to medium and add cooking oil of choice. Cook hot dogs for 4 to 5 minutes, flipping a few times, add some pizza seasoning as well. Scoot hot dogs to the edge of griddle so they stay warm.
  • Lower griddle heat to medium low/ low and scrape center of griddle clean. Lay the pepperoni in groups of 6 on the griddle, 6 total for the 6 hot dogs. Sprinkle the pizza cheese over top of each pepperoni group, which should be just the right size for the buns.
Note: Picture example in post above.
  • Open each bun as much as possible and place them, cut side down, over each cheesy pepperoni group and press down slightly. Once cheese is melty and a little crisp on the bottom use a spatula to remove each cheesy bun from griddle, flip over, and place on a tray.
  • Add slotdogs, pizza sauce, parmesan cheese, and crushed red pepper flakes to each bun and enjoy!
Note: We added our topped hot dogs back to the griddle for a minute to crisp the bottoms of the buns, but that's optional.
