- 2 cups leftover smoked brisket chopped
- 1/2 to 1 cup BBQ sauce (more or less depending on how saucy you prefer the casserole to be)
- 1 (8-ounce) block cream cheese at room temperature
- 2 cups shredded cheese of choice (I used Monterey Jack)
- 1 (4-ounce) can diced green chiles or jalapenos
- kosher salt, pepper, BBQ seasoning blend
- 1 (30-ounce) bag frozen tater tots
- Optional: green onions, more BBQ sauce, hot sauce
Put the chopped brisket, BBQ sauce, cream cheese, shredded cheese, green chiles or jalapenos, kosher salt, pepper, and BBQ seasoning in a bowl. Stir until combined, which does take a minute or two.
Put this mixture in a greased 9×13 casserole dish and spread flat. Add the frozen tater tots on top in a single layer and season with more BBQ seasoning.Note: You might not use all of the tots. Bake in a 400 degree oven for 30 to 40 minutes. Garnish with green onions and serve with more BBQ sauce or hot sauce if desired.
