Equipment

  • Traeger/Pellet Grill

Ingredients

  • 1 1/4 cups Fireball Whisky
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • pinch of kosher salt
  • 5 large apples (I used Honeycrisp apples) cut into chunks, skin on
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • 1 box spice cake mix
  • 1 stick melted butter

Instructions

  • In a large pot over high heat whisk together 1 cup of the the Fireball Whiskey, brown sugar, nutmeg, cinnamon, lemon juice, and pinch of kosher salt. Bring to a boil, add the apple chunks and stir. When it comes back up to a boil, reduce the heat to medium low and simmer for 12 to 14 minutes.
  • In a small bowl mix together the remaining 1/4 cup of the Fireball and the cornstarch. Bring the apples back up to a boil, add the cornstarch and Fireball mixture. Boil and stir for 2 minutes to thicken.
  • Pour the apple mixture into a 9 x 13 dish.
  • Mix the dry spice cake mix and the melted butter together. Crumble over top of the apple mixture.
  • Set the Traeger or pellet grill to 350 degrees. Place the apple crumble on the grill grate for 30 to 40 minutes.
Note: You can also bake this in a 350 degree oven for the same time.
