- 1 1/4 cups Fireball Whisky
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- pinch of kosher salt
- 5 large apples (I used Honeycrisp apples) cut into chunks, skin on
- 1 teaspoon cornstarch
- 1 box spice cake mix
- 1 stick melted butter
In a large pot over high heat whisk together 1 cup of the the Fireball Whiskey, brown sugar, nutmeg, cinnamon, lemon juice, and pinch of kosher salt. Bring to a boil, add the apple chunks and stir. When it comes back up to a boil, reduce the heat to medium low and simmer for 12 to 14 minutes.
In a small bowl mix together the remaining 1/4 cup of the Fireball and the cornstarch. Bring the apples back up to a boil, add the cornstarch and Fireball mixture. Boil and stir for 2 minutes to thicken.
Pour the apple mixture into a 9 x 13 dish.
Mix the dry spice cake mix and the melted butter together. Crumble over top of the apple mixture.
Set the Traeger or pellet grill to 350 degrees. Place the apple crumble on the grill grate for 30 to 40 minutes.Note: You can also bake this in a 350 degree oven for the same time.
