Blackstone Chili Cheese Dog Dip

Blackstone Chili Cheese Dog Dip

Blackstone Chili Cheese Dog Dip is a fun griddle football game dip recipe with Skyline chili perfect for cheering on your Cincinnati Bengals!

This is the first week of my new series where I make a football snack inspired by my Cincinnati team, AND one inspired by the city they are playing… follow along here on my If You Give A Girl A Grill Facebook page!

This week is the team battle of the dips… this Skyline cheese coney dip on the griddle and a Smoked Shrimp Ceviche for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (because duh, seafood is so fresh in Florida).

ingredients for the dip

How to make Blackstone Chili Cheese Dog Dip

First preheat your Blackstone or flat top griddle to medium heat.

Add some cooking oil of choice and diced hot dogs.

Cook the hot dogs for 5 minutes, mixing a few times.

Then add chili powder and cook them another minute or two.

Next place a large cast iron skillet on an empty griddle space (still over medium heat) and add the block of cream cheese, Skyline chili, some shredded mild cheddar cheese, and the hot dogs.

Plus some onions, yellow mustard, and/or hot sauce if desired.

I actually used smoked cream cheese, see details for that in the recipe card.

And any homemade or canned chili works if you don’t have Skyline.

Let this sit on the griddle for a minute or two, then start stirring a few times until the cream cheese is melty and everything is combined.

Mine took about 5 minutes, it goes faster if your cream cheese is at room temp or warm like mine was from smoking it.

It’s helpful to have a towel or oven mitt handy to hold the skillet handle.

Add more shredded cheese over top and remove once the cheese has melted.

Equipment

  • Blackstone Griddle
  • Flat Top Grill/ Griddle

Ingredients

  • cooking oil of choice
  • 8 hot dogs diced
  • chili powder
  • 1 (8-ounce) block cream cheese (I smoked my cream cheese as an optional choice, see recipe notes for details) at room temp
  • 1 (15-ounce) can Skyline chili (or leftover homemade chili)
  • 2 cups shredded mild cheddar cheese
  • Optional: diced onions, yellow mustard, hot sauce
  • tortilla chips or Fritos Scoops for dipping

Instructions

  • Preheat your Blackstone or flat top griddle to medium heat. Add some cooking oil of choice and the hot dogs. Cook 5 minutes, mixing a few times. Add chili powder and cook another minute or two.
  • Place a large cast iron skillet on empty space of griddle (still over medium heat) and add the block of cream cheese, chili, most of the shredded cheese, hot dogs, and onions, yellow mustard, and/or hot sauce if using.
  • Let this sit on the griddle for a minute or two, then start stirring a few times until the cream cheese is melty and everything is combined. Mine took about 5 minutes.
Note: Helpful to have a towel or oven mitt handy to hold the skillet handle.
  • Add remaining shredded cheese over top and remove once the cheese has melted. Serve with chips for dipping.

Notes

To make this with smoked cream cheese, place a cold block of cream cheese on foil. Use a knife to make diagonal slices in the cream cheese and season with chili powder. Place in your smoker or pellet grill at 200 degrees for 2 hours.
