Smoked Chili Chicken Wings
Smoked Chili Chicken Wings was little of an out-of-the-box recipe idea, but let me just say it works!
I had a game day snack in mind while we watched the Cincinnati Bengals game.
And if you’re from the Cincinnati area, you know nothing goes better than Bengals and Skyline!
But I couldn’t leave chicken wings out of our traditional game day snack menu, so I did the only logical thing I could think of… COMBINE THEM!
You can, of course, use any chili you’d like.
But just think, a chili and wing combo with traditional chili toppings like sour cream and cheese can’t be bad.
Yes, messy… but not bad ;
How to make Smoked Chili Chicken Wings
First you’ll need 3 to 4 pounds of jumbo split chicken wings and a can of Cincinnati style chili.
I went with Skyline 🙂
Any homemade chili will work too, just blend it slightly if it’s chunky.
Put the wings in a gallon size plastic bag along with a 2 ounce packet of chili seasoning mix.
Add some olive oil, kosher salt, and pepper.
Then massage the bag and marinate in the fridge for a few hours.
I included recipe directions to make these in the oven in the recipe card, but I made these on our Traeger pellet grill.
Set the smoker or pellet grill to 250 degrees and place the wings on the grill grate for 2 1/2 hours total.
And flip them halfway through.
I’m sure they would be great just like this, but we have some messiness and extra flavor to add 🙂
Toss them in a bowl with 1 to 2 cups of chili and add toppings of choice!
We topped Smoked Chili Chicken Wings with a mix of ranch and sour cream, hot sauce, and cheese!
I also sprinkled some chili powder over top.
Such an incredible appetizer or game day snack!
