Grilled Lemon Basil Chicken
Looking for a healthy and easy grilling recipe packed full of flavor!? Well, look no further my friends, I bring you Grilled lemon Basil Chicken!
A simple marinade with Greek yogurt, garlic, and of course lemon and basil brings the yumminess.
And some “free flavor” thanks to the charred grill marks.
And this dinner will have you and your family wowed 🙂
Serve just how it is, or on buns as sandwiches or chopped up over a salad are a few other serving options.
How to make Grilled Lemon Basil Chicken
Really any herb of choice would work, I happened to have some fresh basil.
Also a container of plain Greek yogurt, olive oil, lemon, and a good amount of garlic.
Chop about 1/4 cup of basil along with mincing 6 to 7 garlic cloves.
Then put 6 boneless, skinless chicken thighs in a bowl (or gallon size plastic bag for mess free marinating).
Next add the yogurt, basil, garlic, and about 3 tablespoons of fresh lemon juice.
Season with kosher salt, pepper, crushed red pepper flakes, and add some all purpose seasoning blend of choice if you’d like.
Then mix this all together and marinate in the fridge for a few hours.
You could even marinate this the night before so cooking dinner that night is easy peasy 🙂
Preheat the grill to medium for several minutes, making sure the grill grates are well oiled before starting the grill.
The place the chicken on the grill grates for 10 to 12 minutes total.
And flip them a few times.
Once that garlic hits the grill it’s game on…. smells incredible enough to make your mouth water!
Grilled Lemon Basil Chicken may seem simple, but I assure you the flavors are bold!

Grilled Lemon Basil Chicken

Ingredients
- 6 boneless, skinless chicken thighs (or 4 chicken breasts)
- 1 5.3 ounce container plain Greek yogurt
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 to 3 tablespoons lemon juice
- 1/4 cup fresh chopped basil
- 6 to 7 cloves garlic minced
- kosher salt, pepper, crushed red pepper flakes, all purpose seasoning blend of choice (optional)
Instructions
- Put the chicken in a bowl (or gallon size plastic bag) and add the Greek yogurt, olive oil, lemon juice, basil, garlic, kosher salt, pepper, crushed red pepper flakes, and seasoning blend (if using). Toss until the chicken is evenly coated.
- Marinate in the fridge for several hours or over night.
- Preheat the grill to medium for a few minutes. Grill the chicken for 10 to 12 minutes total, flipping a few times.Note: I recommend well oiled grill grates to prevent sticking.
- Serve as is, on buns as chicken sandwiches, or on a salad.
