Smoked Maple Sausage Breakfast Sliders

Smoked Maple Sausage Breakfast Sliders

Smoked Maple Sausage Breakfast Sliders for my husband to bring to work throughout the week seemed like a great way to show him how much I love him.

Food is my love language, and I don’t think he’s mad about that 😉

I made them on my Traeger pellet grill, but a smoker works too!

The sliders are on King’s Hawaiian rolls and have your basic eggs, cheese, and sausage… but a hot maple butter brings a little sweet and spicy sass to them 🙂

How to make Smoked Maple Sausage Breakfast Sliders

First, slice the rolls in half to separate the tops and bottoms using a sharp bread knife.

Then use the package to form one large sausage patty.

I seasoned mine with my Blackstone Lumberjack Breakfast seasoning, but that’s optional.

Then crack 6 eggs in a bowl with kosher salt and pepper.

Beat them with a fork and pour into a greased 8 x 10 dish (mine has a slight crack but still hasn’t failed me yet).

A 9 x 13 dish works too; you’ll just have to cut the eggs to fit on the slider rolls when assembling them.

Set your Traeger pellet grill or smoker to 250 degrees and place the dish with the eggs and the sausage patty on the grill grates for an hour.

I used a rubber spatula to lift the eggs a few times during the last 15 minutes to prevent sticking.

The sausage, since it’s smoked, will still be slightly pink but as long as the internal temperature is above 160 degrees we are good to go ahead and make the sliders.

Put the bottom half of the buns on a baking sheet, then add the sausage patty and the eggs.

And a drizzle of maple syrup and a few dashes of hot sauce over the eggs.

Place 6 slices of American cheese, overlapping slightly, and the top bun.

Mix a little more syrup and hot sauce with 2 tablespoons of melted butter and brush this on the top bun.

Back into the smoker or pellet grill for another 10 to 15 minutes and these babies are ready!

Equipment

  • Traeger/Pellet Grill
  • Smoker

Ingredients

  • 1 (12-count) package King's Hawaiian Sweet Rolls
  • 1 pound ground breakfast sausage
  • 6 eggs
  • kosher salt, pepper, Blackstone Lumberjack breakfast seasoning (optional)
  • nonstick cooking spray
  • 3 tablespoons maple syrup
  • a few dashes of your favorite hot sauce
  • 6 slices American cheese
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter

Instructions

  • Slice the King's Hawaiian rolls in half to separate tops and bottoms using a sharp bread knife. Put the sausage in the box that the rolls came in and form one large sausage patty the same size as the rolls.
  • Crack the eggs in a bowl with kosher salt, pepper, and the Lumberjack seasoning if using. Beat with a fork. Spray an 8×10 casserole dish or foil pan with nonstick spray and pour the eggs in.
Note: If you have a 9×13 casserole dish that works too, just cut the cooked eggs to fit on the rolls when assembling the sliders.
  • Set your smoker to 250 degrees and place the dish with the eggs and the large sausage patty on the grill grates (I turned the package with the sausage upside down on the grill grate and peeled away the package). Cook the eggs and sausage for 1 hour.
Note: I used a rubber spatula to lift up the eggs a few times to prevent sticking during the last 15 minutes.
  • Place the bottom slider rolls on a baking sheet. Use spatulas to transfer the cooked sausage and cooked eggs to place on the bottom bun. Drizzle 2 tablespoons of the maple syrup and a few dashes of hot sauce on the eggs. Place cheese slices, overlapping slightly, and add the top bun.
  • Add remaining maple syrup and a few more dashes of hot sauce to the melted butter and stir. Brush the hot maple butter over the top slider buns.
  • Place baking sheet with the slider on the smoker for another 10 to 15 minutes or until cheese is melted. Slice and serve.
