How to make Blackstone Pizza Oven Stuffed Sausages

First cut an 8-ounce block of mozzarella cheese into 5 strips.

Then cut a slit into 5 Italian sausage links.

sliced cheese and sausages

I drizzled some olive oil in my Blackstone Deep Dish Pizza Kit and added a 24-ounce jar of marinara sauce.

Then placed the sausages in the dish and opened the slits to make room for the cheese.

I recommend actually stuffing the sausage before adding them to the sauce, though.

stuffing the sausages

Add the strips of mozzarella to each sausage slit, trimming some of the cheese away if needed so they fit.

I have my pizza oven set to 400 degrees with the pizza stone rotating.

Equipment

  • Blackstone Outdoor Pizza Oven
  • Blackstone Deep-Dish Cast-Iron Pizza Kit

Ingredients

  • 1 (8-ounce) block mozzarella cheese
  • 5 Italian sausage links
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 (24-ounce) jar marinara sauce
  • kosher salt, pepper, Italian seasoning, crushed red pepper flakes
  • Optional: parmesan cheese, fresh chopped basil, garlic toast slices

Instructions

  • Cut the block of mozzarella into 5 long strips (you may need to trim them depending on size of the sausage links).
  • Cut a slit into each Italian sausage casing, not slicing all the way through, and open them slightly. Stuff a strip of mozzarella cheese into each opening.
Note: See picture examples in post above.
  • Drizzle olive oil in the bottom of the Blackstone Deep-Dish Cast-Iron Pizza Kit and pour the jar of marinara in the dish as well.
  • Place each stuffed sausage in the dish with the marinara sauce. Sprinkle kosher salt, pepper, Italian seasoning, and crushed red pepper flakes over top.
  • Preheat your outdoor pizza oven to 400 degrees with the stone rotating. Once preheated, stop the rotating stone, use the cast iron handle to place the dish in the pizza oven, and turn rotating stone back on.
  • Let this cook for 9 to 11 minutes, until sauce is bubbly and sausage is cooked all the way through. Top with parmesan and fresh basil and serve with garlic toast if desired.
