Blackstone Smashed Gyro Tacos
Smashed tacos seem to be the newest griddle trend right now, and these Blackstone Smashed Gyro Tacos were a fun recipe to mix things up a bit.
All the yummy gyro flavors, and even a homemade sauce to top them had us all raving over dinner.
You can use ground lamb to keep things more traditional, or substitute ground pork or chicken if you prefer.
How to make Blackstone Smashed Gyro Tacos
Everything you need is shown below for both the tacos and the sauce!
First, put a pound of ground lamb, pork, or chicken in a bowl.
Then add some minced garlic, kosher salt, pepper, crushed red pepper flakes, and a tablespoon each of dried oregano and paprika.
Mix this together with your hands to combine.
Then form them into 8 to 10 balls.
As for the sauce, combine a container of plain Greek yogurt, a few spoonfuls of mayo, lemon juice, and half of a grated cucumber.
Also season with kosher salt, pepper, and a little crushed red pepper flakes.
You may think you’ll use this sauce sparingly… but trust me, you’ll want to pile on more and more it’s THAT good!
Preheat the Blackstone griddle or flat top grill to medium heat for a few minutes.
Then add the balls of meat, spaced apart, and top each with a soft taco size flour tortilla.
And use a burger press to smash them as flat as you can.
Cook for 3 to 4 minutes and then flip.
And cook another minute or two.
Top Blackstone Smashed Gyro Tacos with the sauce, shredded lettuce, and crumbled feta cheese!
Taco night just got a Greek twist, my friends 🙂
And it was a welcomed change in our house… so darn yummy!
