Blackstone Smashed Spaghetti Tacos
These Blackstone Smashed Spaghetti Tacos were inspired by a TV show called iCarly that my kids used to watch.
Apparently it’s a thing, these spaghetti tacos… and the kids used to ask for them quite often.
Well, this is my new and improved griddle version with Italian sausage and crisped-to-perfection tortillas!
The kids were thrilled, and the husband and I were both pleasantly surprised how much we loved this carb-on-carb dinner idea đŸ™‚
How to make Blackstone Smashed Spaghetti Tacos
Pretty much everything you need is shown right here.
First we will boil 1/3 pound of pasta according to the package directions.
I am using angel hair so only a few minutes and the pasta is ready.
After the pasta was done, I added the sauce to the same pot to warm it up.
And season the jarred sauce a bit with garlic and Italian seasoning.
Also some kosher salt and pepper, much needed since the pasta is going on a tortilla.
Toss the pasta with a cup of the marinara sauce, and use the remaining sauce to top the tacos.
Roll the ground Italian sausage into 6 balls and place on a tray.
And gather the other ingredients to carry outside to the griddle.
It’s nice to have everything outside and ready because cooking these tacos goes fast!
Preheat the griddle or flat top grill to medium heat for a few minutes.
Then add some butter or cooking oil of choice and the balls of ground Italian sausage.
Right away place a soft taco size tortilla over each.
Then use a burger press or cast iron skillet to smash each ball of sausage… hence the name “smashed” tacos đŸ˜‰
Let the sausage cook for 2 to 3 minutes, then flip them over.
And pile some shredded mozzarella cheese over each tortilla.
Then a pile of spaghetti tossed in marinara sauce.
Plus more marinara sauce over top.
You can turn the griddle off at this point and wait for the cheese to get nice and melty.
Add parmesan cheese and parsley to top the Blackstone Smashed Spaghetti Tacos!
If THIS is the kind of dinner my kids request, I am a thousand percent on board!

Blackstone Smashed Spaghetti Tacos
Equipment
- Blackstone Griddle
- Flat Top Grill/ Griddle
Ingredients
- 1/3 pound spaghetti or angel hair pasta
- 1 24 ounce jar marinara pasta sauce warm
- kosher salt, pepper
- 2 teaspoons Italian seasoning
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 pound ground Italian sausage
- butter or cooking oil of choice
- 6 soft taco size soft flour tortillas
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- Optional: parmesan cheese, crushed red pepper flakes, and/or parsley for garnish
Instructions
- Boil the pasta according to package directions in salted water, drain and toss together with 1 cup of the marinara sauce, kosher salt, pepper, Italian seasoning, and garlic powder.
- Roll the Italian sausage into 6 balls. Set them on a tray with the cheese, pasta, remaining pasta sauce, and tortillas. Bring everything out to the griddle.
- Preheat the griddle to medium heat for several minutes. Add some butter or cooking oil and place the balls of Italian sausage, spaced apart. Place a soft tortilla over each, use a burger press or heavy, flat object (I used a small cast iron skillet), to press the tortilla down, flattening the sausage underneath.
- Cook 2 to 3 minutes, flip them over and add the mozzarella cheese, spaghetti in sauce, and a little more marinara sauce over each. Add optional toppings such as parmesan cheese, crushed red pepper flakes, and/or parsley.Note: Once you add the toppings, you can turn the griddle off as you wait for the cheese to melt.
- Remove when tortilla is crisped how you prefer.
