Blackstone Sausage and Apples
Blackstone Sausage and Apples is part of my mission to create as many Blackstone Recipes Perfect for Fall as I possibly can.
That is before the cold winter weather rolls in… but who are we kidding?!
I’ll still be out there griddling my little heart out in my winter coat when that time comes 😉
Cooking on my Blackstone griddle/ flat top grill is just so easy, so fun, and it’s not a bad addiction to have.
But this recipe is full of fall flavors and ingredients, so I consider it a perfect fall dinner recipe 🙂
How to make Blackstone Sausage and Apples
In addition to the sausage and apples, it also has diced sweet potatoes, spinach, and some great fall spices like cinnamon and maple.
First prepare all of the ingredients and place them on a tray to easily carry outside to the griddle.
Then preheat the Blackstone or flat top grill to medium for a few minutes.
And add some cooking oil of choice, 2 diced sweet potatoes, kosher salt, and pepper.
The sweet potatoes will cook 8 to 9 minutes total under a melting dome.
Add some chicken broth under the dome a few times to help steam the taters.
And flip with hibachi spatulas 2 or 3 times as well.
Then remove the melting dome and add some cooking oil to an empty side of the griddle.
And a pound of pork sausage and a diced onion.
You could use country or Italian sausage, and feel free to use chicken or turkey sausage to cut some fat and calories if you’d like.
Use your hibachi spatulas to break apart the sausage on the griddle and mix together with the onions for 3 to 4 minutes.
Turn the sweet potatoes a few times as well.
Then mix them all together and add 2 diced apples and 5 cups of chopped fresh spinach.
And add more kosher salt, pepper, and spice blend of paprika, cumin, thyme (fresh or dried), and cinnamon.
Cook everything together on the griddle, combining with the hibachi spatulas, for 4 to 5 minutes.
Finally add the rest of the chicken broth (about 1/3 cup), 1/4 cup maple syrup, and some sliced green onions.
You could also add crushed red pepper flakes for spice if desired.
Another minute or two on the griddle and dinner is ready!
Even though this can be enjoyed any time of year, Blackstone Sausage and Apples is a great fall dinner recipe!
