Blackstone Calabrian Chicken Subs
Calabrian crushed chili peppers are a fun, new ingredient that I tried, and my latest recipe featuring them is Blackstone Calabrian Chicken Subs.
The Calabrian peppers aren’t overwhelmingly spicy, just a little kick of heat and a whoooooollllllllle lot of flavor.

How to make Blackstone Calabrian Chicken Subs
Start by dicing an onion and red bell pepper.
Place them on a tray along with minced garlic, diced Italian chicken sausage that is already cooked, plus the Calabrian peppers, cheese, and hoagy buns.

Preheat the Blackstone or flat top griddle to medium heat and add cooking oil of choice and the red peppers and onions.

Season with kosher salt and pepper and cook 4 to 5 minutes, mixing with spatulas a few times.

Next add the diced chicken sausage, or get you a handsome husband to help with this part 😉
He knew I was having the most Monday-est Monday ever and wanted to help and make me laugh as I cooked dinner.

The minced garlic joins the party too and cook this for another 3 to 4 minutes, mixing together.

Since the chicken sausage is already cooked it goes pretty quickly.

Finally add 1/3 cup of the Calabrian crushed peppers and shredded mozzarella cheese.

Mix together until melted and place 4 hoagy rolls on the griddle to warm them for a minute.

Finish the Blackstone Calabrian Chicken Subs with a squeeze of lemon over top for a pop of freshness 🙂
Seriously the lemon just makes them extra good!!

Blackstone Calabrian Chicken Subs
Equipment
- Blackstone Griddle
- Flat Top Grill/ Griddle
Ingredients
- cooking oil of choice
- 1 onion diced
- 1 red bell pepper diced
- kosher salt, pepper
- 4 to 5 cloves garlic minced
- 12 ounces cooked Italian chicken sausage diced
- 4 sub or hoagy buns
- 1/3 cup crushed Calabrian chili peppers
- 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 4 lemon wedges
Instructions
- Preheat griddle to medium. Add cooking oil, onions, red peppers, kosher salt, and pepper. Cook 4 to 5 minutes, mixing a few times with spatulas.
- Add garlic and chicken sausage. Cook 3 to 4 more minutes. mixing a few times.
- Place sub buns, cut side down on griddle. Add Calabrian peppers and cheese to chicken mixture. Mix until melted and combined. Serve the chicken mixture in the sub buns with a squeeze of fresh lemon over top.
