Smoked Maple Candied Bacon
Smoked Maple Candied Bacon is a simple recipe on the Traeger pellet grill or smoker.
It would be a great addition to breakfast, brunch, or on a charcuterie board.
Warning… highly addicting and they will most likely disappear in record time đŸ™‚
How to make Smoked Maple Candied Bacon
First separate 2 pounds of thick cut bacon.
I like to get mine from the deli so the slices are nice and even.
And place the slices in a bowl.
Then add 1/2 cup of brown sugar.
And 1/2 cup of pure maple syrup.
Then toss together with your hands until the bacon is evenly coated.
It’s a messy job but well worth it đŸ™‚
Next stop is the Traeger pellet grill or smoker!
Just lay the bacon right on the grill grates.
And set the pellet grill or smoker to 225 degrees.
If you have “super smoke” as an option, go ahead and turn that on.
These will smoke 1 1/2 to 2 hours total.
Flipping them halfway through.
And toward the end, check several times because some slices of bacon may cook faster than others.
It will depend on smoker hot spots and how thick the bacon is.
Remove Smoked Maple Candied Bacon when cooked how you prefer.
The bacon will harden as it cools, so allow time for that before serving.
If you do happen to have some leftover, simply store in the fridge in a bag or covered container.

Smoked Maple Candied Bacon
Equipment
- Smoker
- Traeger/Pellet Grill
Ingredients
- 2 pounds thick cut bacon
- 1/2 cup pure maple syrup
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
Instructions
- Separate the bacon strips and place them in a large bowl.
- Add the maple syrup and brown sugar to the bowl and toss until evenly coated, I had the best luck using my hands.
- Set the temp on your pellet grill or smoker to 225 degrees. Start placing the bacon right away, no need to let it preheat. I found it best to use my hands to place them on the grill grates.
- Let the bacon cook for 50 minutes, flip them and cook an additional 50 to 70 minutes. This will largely depend on the bacon thickness and how you want them cooked.Note: Watch for hotter and cooler spots during the last half of cooking, some bacon may need to be moved or taken off early.
- Let the bacon cool before serving, it will harden as it cools.
