Smoked Cheesy Sausage Jalapenos
Football Sundays are for fun game day snacks on the griddle and smoker. I started these Smoked Cheesy Sausage Jalapenos on the Blackstone and then finished them in the Traeger pellet grill.
It’s nice to have grill options 😉
We were gifted all of these gorgeous jalapenos, so I knew I wanted to do a version of smoked jalapeno poppers.
How to make Smoked Cheesy Sausage Jalapenos
First cut 12 to 16 jalapenos in half lengthwise and scrape out the seeds and white ribs.
I left a few seeds because we like a little spice.
My hands are super sensitive to jalapenos, so I always wear gloves.
I removed the Italian sausage from the casings, diced an onion, and headed out to my griddle for phase one.
Preheat the griddle, or a skillet on the stove, to medium heat.
Then add the sausage and onions.
Cook 6 to 7 minutes, breaking apart the sausage as it cooks.
Then add to a bowl with a block of cream cheese, a cup of shredded cheese, kosher salt, pepper, and some seasoning blend of choice.
I just went with a Cajun blend.
Mix this together with a spoon.
And stuff the jalapeno halves.
Next stop is the Traeger pellet grill or smoker set to 250 degrees.
Place them right on the grill grate for 1 1/2 to 2 hours.
Smoked Cheesy Sausage Jalapenos were the perfect game day snack 🙂
So cheesy, great flavor from the sausage, and a little kick from the peppers.
