Grilled Char Siu Chicken
I made a similar dish to this Grilled Char Siu Chicken recipe a few weeks ago.
It was a pork tenderloin and I made it on the smoker.
Sooooo yummy I thought how many other ways can I use this same marinade and sauce!
The grilled chicken version was just as amazing and had such a unique flavor.
How to Make Grilled Char Siu Chicken
The sauce ingredients are all listed below.
The Shaoxing cooking wine I ordered from Amazon, everything else you can find at most grocery stores.
Mix the marinade ingredients in a bowl and put 2 pounds boneless skinless chicken thighs in a gallon size plastic bag.
Put 3/4 cup mayo in a separate bowl and add a few spoonfuls of the marinade to make a dipping sauce.
Stir and store the dipping sauce in the fridge.
And add the rest of the marinade to the bag with the chicken.
Massage the bag until the chicken is evenly coated and marinate in the fridge overnight.
Then preheat your grill to medium high for a few minutes.
And grill the chicken 5 to 6 minutes per side.
You can brush the chicken with any leftover marinade from the bag, but only during the first half of grilling.
That way the marinade gets cooked off properly.
Gorgeous char marks and the beautiful red color should tell you this isn’t your average, boring grilled chicken dinner 🙂

Serve Grilled Char Siu Chicken with rice and the dipping sauce from earlier 🙂
We are spice freaks around here, so we also had a little sriracha as well.
