Smoked Crab Cake Stuffed Jalapenos

Smoked Crab Cake Stuffed Jalapenos

I sure am a sucker for crab cakes, so I thought why not make smoked crab cake stuffed jalapenos recipe to mix things up a bit!

One of my favorite things to put on my smoker/ pellet grill are stuffed jalapenos.

So here I am combining my two favorites of crab cakes and stuffed jalapenos into one insanely addicting appetizer.

Everything you need is shown below, you’ll see that I am using canned jumbo lump crab meat.

If you have fresh from the deli or from a specialty seafood market that would be even better!

Ingredients for the crab cakes

How to make smoked crab cake stuffed jalapenos

Start with a large skillet over medium heat and add some olive oil.

Once the olive oil is hot add in a diced onion, a diced red bell pepper, kosher salt, pepper, and crushed red pepper flakes.

Let the peppers and onions cook for about 6 to 8 minutes stirring a few times.

Then add in some garlic, fresh lemon juice, and old Bay seasoning and cook one more minute.

Let this mixture come to room temperature and then add in a cup of panko bread crumbs, two eggs, and 12 ounces of jumbo lump crab meat.

Mix until evenly combined and this will be our yummy jalapeno filling!

Filling for the crab cakes before mixing

Cut about 10 to 12 jalapenos in half lengthwise and scrape out the seeds and white ribs.

Next, fill each very well with the crab cake filling.

And sprinkle even more old Bay seasoning over top.

Stuffed jalapenos before putting on the smoker

Set your smoker or pellet grill to 250 degrees.

Then place the stuffed jalapenos on the grill or smoker grate for 1 1/2 to 2 hours.

We enjoyed our smoked crab cake stuffed jalapenos with some homemade old bay aioli!

It’s super simple to make… just combine Mayo, lemon juice, garlic, old bay seasoning, and hot sauce.
