Blackstone Breakfast Fried Rice

Blackstone Breakfast Fried Rice

When I first told my husband about this unique griddle recipe for Blackstone Breakfast Fried Rice I think he was a little scared.

Skeptical maybe is a better word, but he willingly tried it because…well, happy wife, happy life 😉

He did love it and so did the rest of the family!

Whether it’s breakfast or breakfast-for-dinner, this recipe is a must try 🙂

A little sweetness is added thanks to this Bachan’s Japanese Barbecue Sauce… which is NOT like regular BBQ sauce so no worries.

How to make Blackstone Breakfast Fried Rice

First prepare all of your ingredients, which does take some planning ahead.

Put them on a tray to easily carry out to the griddle.

I used the same tray to carry the fried rice back inside too.

prepped ingredients ready for the griddle

Preheat your griddle to medium heat for several minutes.

Then add some cooking oil of choice, a diced onion, a diced red bell pepper, and a 12 ounce diced ham steak.

adding veggies and diced ham to the griddle

Cook the ham and veggies for 2 to 3 minutes and then add 6 cups of cooked and cooled Jasmine rice.

And cook for another 2 to 3 minutes, mixing it all together with your hibachi spatulas.

Then add a little more oil to an empty space on the griddle and slowly pour 6 beaten eggs.

Use your spatulas to scramble them for a minute and then mix it all together.

Next add 4 tablespoons butter, a little kosher salt and pepper, and 3 tablespoons each soy sauce and the Japanese barbecue sauce.

Mix and cook for another 6 to 7 minutes.

Finally toss in some sliced green onions, cook another minute or so, and we are ready to eat!

Equipment

  • Blackstone Griddle
  • Flat Top Grill/ Griddle

Ingredients

  • cooking oil of choice
  • 1 onion diced
  • 1 red bell pepper diced
  • 1 12 ounce ham steak diced
  • 6 cups cooked and cooled Jasmine rice (day old rice works best)
  • 6 eggs beaten in a bowl
  • 3 to 4 tablespoons Bachan's Japanese Barbecue Sauce (not like regular BBQ sauce, trust me)
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • kosher salt, pepper
  • 1 bunch green onions sliced
  • Optional: more Japanese barbecue sauce, sriracha, yum yum sauce

Instructions

  • Prepare your ingredients, put them on a tray to easily carry out to the griddle. Preheat the griddle to medium heat for several minutes.
  • Add some cooking oil, the diced onion, pepper, and ham. Cook 2 to 3 minutes, flipping with hibachi spatulas a few times.
  • Add the rice. Mix together with the veggies and ham, cooking for 2 to 3 minutes.
  • Add a little more oil to an empty space on the griddle and slowly add the egg, using the hibachi spatulas to prevent it from spreading too much. Scramble the eggs for a minute then mix together with the rice.
  • Add the Japanese sauce, soy sauce, butter, kosher salt, and pepper. Mix together and cook for 6 to 7 minutes. Add the green onions and cook another minute.
  • Serve with more Japanese barbecue sauce, sriracha, and/or yum yum sauce if desired.
