Blackstone Chili Dog Smashed Tacos
My husband and I are both from Cincinnati, which means we both LOVE our Skyline Chili… so we created a twist on our beloved cheese coney with these Blackstone Chili Dog Smashed Tacos!
Even if you don’t have access to Skyline chili, you could make them with your favorite leftover homemade chili.
How to make Blackstone Chili Dog Smashed Tacos
Start with your Blackstone or flat top griddle over medium heat.
Add some cooking oil and a few diced hot dogs just to crisp them a bit.

Next we are adding a pound of ground beef.
I seasoned the beef with all your chili seasonings like chili powder, paprika, garlic powder, etc.

Then roll the beef into 8 balls and place them on your griddle, spaced out a little.

Place your flour tortillas over top of the beef and smash with a burger press.
Twisting slightly while pressing helps flatten it out more.

Honestly while we were smashing these, some crazy weather came and we did not smash them as much as we would have liked.
Hopefully you can get yours a little more thin and going to the edge of the tortillas, we were more concerned with the sideways rain 😉

Assemble the tacos with the diced hot dogs, some yellow mustard, and Skyline chili (or leftover homemade chili).
Finally lots of shredded cheese, plus we added crushed Skyline oyster crackers and hot sauce.
Onions would be a great addition as well!

These Blackstone Chili Dog Smashed Tacos definitely bring me back to my childhood 🙂
You gotta try these fun tacos for yourself!

Blackstone Chili Dog Smashed Tacos
Equipment
- Blackstone Griddle
- Flat Top Grill/ Griddle
Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef
- kosher salt, pepper, chili powder, paprika, garlic powder (I measured with my heart)
- cooking oil of choice
- 6 hot dogs diced
- 8 flour tortillas (mine were 6-inches)
- yellow mustard
- 1 (15-ounce) can Skyline chili (or chili of choice, store bought or homemade)
- 2 cups shredded mild cheddar cheese
- Optional: oyster crackers, hot sauce, diced onions
Instructions
- Season the ground beef with kosher salt, pepper, chili powder, paprika, and garlic powder. Combine with your hands and roll into 8 balls.
- Preheat your griddle to medium. Add cooking oil of choice and the diced hot dogs. Cook 5 minutes, mixing a few times and scoot to edge of griddle.
- Add a little more cooking oil and the balls of seasoned ground beef, spaced apart several inches. Place a tortilla over each ball of ground beef and use a burger press to smash them, twisting helps smash them flatter.
- Cook 4 minutes, flip, and cook 1 more minute. Remove and fill each with the hot dogs, yellow mustard, chili, and cheese. Add optional toppings such as oyster crackers, hot sauce, and/or diced onions.

I am a big fan of tacos and grilled hot dogs, but your delicious fusion of these classics is next-level stuff! That was a genius idea to mix taco seasoning right into the ground beef before grilling. Then smashing the beef right into the tortilla was delicious perfection. Even better, you’ve made this recipe wildly easy to prepare. I especialy love that!!
