Blackstone Italian Sloppy Joes

Blackstone Italian Sloppy Joes

My son is not a fan of traditional sloppy joes, so we made a fun, new recipe for Blackstone Italian Sloppy Joes on the griddle together!

Think of these as like an open face sandwich on garlic toast with an Italian twist.

Still fits the name as far as “sloppy” because you will for sure need some extra napkins.

But oh so much more flavorful 🙂

How to make Blackstone Italian Sloppy Joes

You’ll just need to put your ingredients on a tray to carry out to the griddle to get started.

The only real prep work here is dicing an onion.

Then just put some ground Italian sausage, the diced onion, 8 slices of garlic toast on a tray with Italian seasoning and marinara sauce.

Then preheat the Blackstone griddle or flat top grill to medium heat for a few minutes.

And drizzle some cooking oil of choice, the sausage, onion, kosher salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning.

Cook this for 7 to 8 minutes, breaking apart the sausage with your hibachi spatulas on the griddle.

He may only be 13, but this kid is a griddle cooking pro already!

Then add 2 to 3 cups of marinara sauce, mix it all together, and cook another minute or two.

The amount of sauce depends on how saucy, or sloppy, you prefer.

I just transferred it to the same tray we used to carry it all out on.

Next, lower the heat a bit and place the frozen garlic toast on the griddle.

I did scrape the griddle a bit before adding the toast.

Sprinkle each with mozzarella cheese.

And once melted, they are ready to serve!

We topped our Blackstone Italian Sloppy Joes with parmesan and basil 🙂

To serve, simply add the sausage “sauce” to each piece of cheesy garlic toast.

Everyone gave this dish a 10 out of 10, and I gave my sidekick chef the same top rating 😉
